live in san francisco, ely rasmus, ktvu channel 2 news. >>> well, our active pattern continues. this looks like what could be a very interesting week with a multiple situations where we will go from some rain to some really cold, back to some maybe heavy rain toward the end of the week. not a bad front came through this morning. light rain and drizzle and picked up in intensity, the system is going through, it is down to the south bend and already heading east. a lot of it did not show up on radar. but still, this is shaping up to be what could be starting on thursday, and a little bit today, today wasn't much, but friday, saturday, and sunday maybe into monday, mount helena had an inch of rain. and santa rosa, a half of an inch of rain. redwood city a third. and then rodeo, a quarter of an inch. you can see san jose and the santa cruz mountains as well as it is continuing. i haven't seen too much, a quarter of an inch, and three quarters of an inch in the santa cruz mountains. and a little bit around the discovery bay, antioch and livermore. a lot of this is really light. to th

at the toll plaza there is not a big delay coming into san francisco and it has been a very nice drive and all the road work looks good. if you are driving on the peninsular, the traffic on 101 and 280 looks good and there could be a little bit of road work on the shoulder and for the most part we are doing very well. let's go to mark. >>> well, we are off to a dry start and we are definitely bundling up. santa rosa checking in at 36 degrees and we have some overcast and as a result temperatures have come up a little bit. san jose in the 30s. and this is a first in a series of cold fronts approaching the northwestern portions of the state. this will be a significant snow producer for mountains of lake county and also for the sierra with dropping snow levels at least in the short-term. snow levels come up and significant amounts stay up in feet. for today, a cold morning, and cloud cover will be on the increase and tomorrow more rain and the weekend we will have rain as well increasing at times. it will be increasing through the south into the evening and as a result this wind advisory

san josi nearly an inch. san francisco just about an inch and oakland 1.25". fremont just over 1.5". we're still tracking moderate to heavy rain across the region right now. all thought coverage has been decreasing on live stormtracker 2, but we're watching the santa cruz mountains with the excessive rainfall amounts. we'll check out the south bay for san josi, the darker shades evergreen and yellows reflect heavy rainfall towards milpitas and livermore, this activity just beginning to drift to the south and east. basically just a few lingering showers out towards the brentwood area and around antioch. those yellow and reds showing up around highway 4. and up in the north bay, you can pick out of the coverage backing off quite a bit, but we have some heavier downpours closer to the concord area. as far as snow, actually just snapped this picture a few minutes ago. highway 9, you can see the snow piling up. we still have a storm warning in place until 10:00 this evening. chains currently required on 80 and 50. travel will be better because cold front is heading

san francisco is no different. and i have shared that emotional experience with the supervisor and everybody here, in our law enforcement, and in our health department as well. the question for us, then, is what do we do about it? and not only can we share in this tragedy and signal our sympathies to the families as we've done, but we've got to do something more. and this is where i want to make sure i recognize all of the people that are in that effort of doing something about it, including the officials in san francisco. and some have been at this longer than others to try to do something about it, have reached limitations. yet again, i think this tragedy at sandy hook reminds us that we've got to keep trying and we've got to keep doing more about it. and, so, i want to first of all recognize that senator feinstein, in my conversations with her, and the tragedies she's experienced as mayor of san francisco as well as her attempts to ban assault weapons and had done so in the past, and that her federal assault leg
